A Balanced Life
The Honest Grouch and I embarked on a long, long journey to discover the meaning of 'A Balanced Life' and I think we have found something - It's not about dividing time equally between work and home, it's more like this :
I have a balanced life when I have equal fulfilment at work and at home.
And what produces fulfilment is having a goal that I am working to achieve. What produces disappointment and disatisfaction is having expectations instead of goals. Because when I have expectations, I won't lift a finger to do anything. I will expect it to be done for me. And that is the surest way to guarantee disappointment.
So fulfilment depends on whether I have goals or expectations.
Can it be that simple?

Hmmm....i really hate expectations. Because each time i think of it, it makes me think that i'm just lousy in whatever i do, and disappointment comes to me so fast that i get knocked down. Even though i'm not a Christian, but i really believed in what Alexander Pope says, 'Blessed is the man who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed' was the ninth beatitude. It's really simple, come to think of it, if i relate it to that quote.
This one quote is really funny, it's for you....
Expecting the world to treat you fairly
because you are a good person
is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you
because you are a vegetarian.
Hahhahahah........
Hahahaha! Ok, one point for the meat eaters!
Chinese Proverb: The higher your expectations, The higher your disappointment.
But to go into a relationship in life with an expectation is a very dangerous road to tread. However perfect your friend/partner can be, one day, the fler will surely fail you on something.
Imperfect beings, we lot...
I think that we should not put a 'target' to achieve in a relationship. It'll make it a very 'business' type of relationship...
I feel that a relationship should be free from any bondage of any sort, free of any format, free of any control. Life and love is a very funny thing; You hold on to it tightly, you suffocate it. You let is loose, it grows beyond your control.
So... in the end, I guess it all boils down to 'Vios: What do you want?'
hahahahahahaha... Cheers
